I was recently asked to be the “Best Man” in my besties wedding.  Of course, I wanted to write the perfect speech. I spent hours scouring the web but just couldn’t find anything worthy of my bestie.  So I buckled down and wrote the world’s greatest best man speech, myself. (Pleading, crying, and deals with the devil may or may not have been made😈)

*This, however, is not that speech. This is just a tribute.*  😆😉

For my best friend Richard and his beautiful wife Kat: 👰🤵

Hi Everyone. 👋🏻For those that don’t know me, I’m Rebecca, the best man. For those who do know me… Hi,👋🏻we’ve already met.

I was honored when Richard asked me to be the best man in his wedding. Of course I said yes, because this was finally my chance to man up 🎩and show Richard that I have the balls to do a man’s job, with a real risk of tears.

Caution: possible tears ahead, listen at your own risk. ⚠️

At first, I found the speech length really difficult to settle on. At one point, it ran to almost 70 minutes, so I cut it down to a five-minute speech but I just felt like too many important things were being left out. So I came to a compromise – I’m going to read the five-minute speech. Then straight afterwards, I’ll do 70-minute one and you guys can tell me which speech I should use. There will be no intermission and tips are always appreciated. 

Richard and I have been friends for ALL of the years.  We met in college, when we were partnered in our music express class where we learned to swing………

We’ve been best friends ever since. He’s my go to call when I’m feeling sad, goofy, or have had too much to drink and need someone to defend my right to drink more! 🍸

I’m his go to call as well but like a true millennial I don’t answer the phone. 

He keeps me humble by giving me nicknames like “Wet Butt Becky” when I sit in tea on our way to class and I respond with nicknames like Rude Richard.  Years later and we will never live those nicknames down. WBB and RR, 2 legit to quit! 

I’m so happy Richard has finally found his forever love in Kat. Kat is beautiful, kind, clearly patient, and deserves a great husband. 

Lucky for Richard he swooped in before she found one! 

In all honesty. Richard has waited a long time to find his match. Never willing to settle and I’m glad he didn’t. Kat is a catch and they are great together.💜

I have never see Richard so happy but also able to be himself without exception and when Richard is himself, it is truly exceptional. 

I’m blessed to have his humor, kindness, and wisdom in my life and now I’m happy to gain a new friend in Kat. 

To Richard and Kat- you both look beautiful today. I wish you both many years of happiness, laughter, love and the winning numbers on every lotto ticket you buy!

If you ever need a Best Man/Maid of Honor speech, hopefully this will get your creative juices flowing. If you want to use this speech, I strongly recommend changing the names to match the Bride and Groom’s names or only being friends with couples named Kat and Richard. Remember this is not the world’s greatest Best Man speech, this is just a tribute!
